Today we had a powhiri which welcomed the year 7’s from Panmure District school and Saint Patrick’s school. One of the our year 8 from our school (Saint Patrick’s school) performed a speech of saying thank you to all the teachers and students that welcomed us. We are glad and appreciated by the work they have did for us.

When the powhiri finished we went back to class and start making our designing brief we started last week (apple sauce). After we make the delicious apple sauce. We started listing what kind of we are going to make. My partner and Ace picked (banana loaf).

Here is our recipe:

• 1¾ cups Edmonds self-raising flour
• ¼ tsp Edmonds baking soda
• ¼ tsp salt
• ½ cup sugar
• 2 eggs
• ¼ cup milk
• 75g butter, melted
• 1 cup mashed banana

On the first day of tech, we learned the instructions to clean, put away and ready for next week. Rules we learnt were: to listen to instructions, before you come in wear the right uniform. Avoid talking to another person while the speaker is talking and never talk back to the teacher.

We drew a diagram, known as a food pyramid, which had the food we needed to eat at home and anywhere else.  This included vegetables, fruit, meat and dairy.  The dairy products included: butter, cheese, milk and yogurt.

Following this, we h;ad to clean the sink to rub off the leftover cooking materials.  We used hot water from the tap to be hygienic.

We listed three things we would like  to cook next week and that it would fit in a jar. My partner and I (Lasike) picked apple sauce because it looks nice and tasted delicious.

This is our recipe:

1. 6 pounds Apples, Peeled, Cored, And Cut Into 8 Slices.
2. 1 cup Apple Juice Or Apple Cider.
3. Juice Of 1 Lemon.
4. 1/2 cup Brown Sugar, Packed.
5. 1 teaspoon Cinnamon, More Or Less To Taste.
6. Optional Ingredients: Nutmeg, Maple Syrup, Allspice, Butter.

This year I am a Year 8 of Saint Patrick school. I am a tongan young boy and my favourite sport is basketball and rugby. My partner cameron is a talented young boy and a sporty person that would want to join the NBA in the future. We have been friends since we were 5 back in primary.
